At Trees, Water, and People, our approach is centered around cultivating self-determination for Indigenous communities to craft their own unique economic and energy independence by investing into the next generation of leaders.

Decades of economic disparities have led to poverty, inferior educational opportunities, and other obstacles, that many young Native Americans lose self-confidence and respect for themselves, leading to school failure, substance abuse, chronic employment, and other self-destructive choices.

Our Solar Warriors Empowerment Training (SWET) Program, plays an active role in facilitating a curriculum that focuses on boosting self-esteem, inclusion, and self-actualization of young Native American students. This course is culturally-tailored and focuses on renewable energy technology skills development emphasizing teamwork and leadership using the We Share Solar “solar suitcase.” Students learn to assemble a small, 12-volt solar power system using the Solar Suitcase to advance their intellectual thinking and boost self-confidence, strengthen  problem-solving skills, and increase social-emotional well-being.
